FMECA (Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis) and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) are scientific methods summarized from engineering practice, and often used in the reliability research of large-complex products. Lots of practical engineering show that FMECA and FTA methods are applied to product design, product, testing and maintain process and have a good effect.Traditional FMECA and FTA are usually carried out on paper, the former is required to fill out the form and the latter requires drawing fault trees manually. The development of computer technology provides favorable conditions for the extension of FMECA and FTA. At the same time, some information of FMECA and FTA can be shared and used, which provide the basis for computer aided FMECA/FTA software and can improve the efficiency of FMECA and FTA in large-complex products.Turbofan engine is a kind of aircraft engine which developed on the basis of turbojet engine. As the power source of the aircraft, turbofan engine must work stably and reliably to ensure the safety and security of personnel and property, and the completion of work.Taking Visual Basic 6.0 as software development tool and relational database MS Access2007 as software database, on the basis of studying theories and engineering application of FMECA and FTA, also taking account of the characteristics of turbofan engine, this paper develops the computer aided FMECA/FTA software. The software can achieve the following main functions: Putting FMECA and FTA study together; Making sure the security requirement; Calculating risk priority number (RPN), the failure mode criticality and drawing the criticality matrix automatically; Data information searching, sorting and saving; Drawing fault trees, etc. On the basis of the software, this paper designs the FMECA and FTA modules of turbofan engine, and gets the fault trees finally.
