At present our country is at the key period of industrial transformation and reform deepening, during which manufacturing industrial competition becomes more and more drastic. As the foundation of whole manufacturing development, equipment manufacturing especially basic components manufacturing bears the historical task of pushing national economy to realize strategic transformation. Bearing is one of the basic components that can be applied widely while the development condition of bearing manufacturing enterprises can directly affect the whole level of Chinese equipment manufacturing. Lean production attracts wide attention from manufacturing enterprises as it can effectively enhance production efficiency and economic benefit. Based on mature processing technology, resources and equipment, we should emphasize to improve logistics operation, storage system, rules and criterions, quality control of bearing manufacturing enterprises, so as to reduce process cost, eliminate wastes and enhance production efficiency and economic benefits.It is difficult to apply traditional study method on bearing process and assembly that belongs to a typical Discrete Event System with distinct randomness. As a general computer modeling simulation platform used for production and logistics system, the Witness simulation software can supply appropriate model solutions aiming at randomness, complexity and discreteness of system. This paper takes assembly workshop of a bearing manufacturing enterprise as object, makes a target of lean improvement of assembly logistics system, emphasizes to analyze operation characteristics of bearing assembly workshop production and logistics system as well as assembly warehousing and purchasing system to establish corresponding Witness simulation model. Based on model operating result and data analysis, we will bring forward an assembly logistic improvement system with realistic and economic value, and then demonstrate the feasibility of each scheme.Aiming at manual operation of medium and small-size bearing enterprises, we should take manual factor into consideration while building Witness simulation model, so as to establish highly realistic computer system model. To get the safe stock, we must compare theoretical result with modeling simulation result to analyze data trueness and reliability, and finally get the economic order size of objective function.This paper demonstrates the anticipated effect of assembly logistics lean improvement scheme via simulation operation of actual bearing assembly production data, reaches a conclusion that the lean production is worth promotion for bearing enterprises, discusses the feasibility of bearing industry applying simulation technology to realize lean modification and get considerable economic benefit, and offer a new thought for the transformation and development of bearing industry.
