In recent years, with the rapid development of information technology and wide application, BIM(Building Information Modeling) technology has led to a global industrial revolution. For the BIM model, all the information is stored in the same database, and there is a correlation between the parameters and the model, which makes the parametric design based on BIM has the characteristics of coordination and internal consistency, which is the main feature of BIM. China’s construction industry has gradually changed from the relationship competitiveness to the competitiveness of technology, servicea and ability, the new building model with the main characteristics of the construction structure digitization and the "Internet +" will become the mainstream of the future construction.This paper mainly uses the BIM software CATIA’s powerful parametric modeling function and open secondary development database to research on the the beam and column reinforcement design which is the most complex in the frame structure system. Using object-oriented programming language VB to second develop CATIA and AutoCAD. The parametric model of beam and column with the reinforcement design is presented, and the results of SATWE are extracted. Completed the optimization of reinforcement of beams members and column members. The final results are applied to actual engineering. Mainly completed the following work:(1) On the basis of fully understanding the design codes of building structure, combined with the design experience and the characteristics of CATIA modeling, the parameters design model of the beam’s steel reinforcement is proposed, and the second development of CATIA is carried out and the design program of the CATIA beam with the reinforcement parameters is developed.(2) According to the characteristics of the frame structure columns, the parametric design model of the column reinforcement is put forward, and the CATIA secongdry development is carried on and the design program of the CATIA column with the reinforcement parameters is developed..(3) The identification of the 2D CAD graphics in the layout of the building structure is studied. According to the results of the identification, the parameters of the beam and column and the requirement of the reinforcement are formed automatically.(4) The process of frame structure based on CATIA assembly design is studied, the parametric assembly file format is proposed based on the secondary development of CATIA, the key code of the assembly process is given, combining with the engineering realization of parametric assembly is proposed in this paper.(5) A parametric model of building structure based on CATIA is proposed, and the problem of optimal design of the frame structure beam column with BIM is studied.The results show that the design of frame structure based on multi software platform is feasible and practical. It can be integrated into BIM’s visualization, coordination, information sharing and so on. The fast output of the model is realized by the analysis model, and the design results can be clash checked and simulated, and the expected results are achieved.
