Recently the bus market competition has been changing to reduce time-to-market and satisfy the personality demands of buyers. In order to gain advantage in market competition, enterprises must reuse the available resources farthest. But satisfying the personality demands means that we can't reuse the available resources completely. To adopt the strategy of variant design is the effective method that solves the conflict. In the design process, The Bus Framework needs to change optimize many times, traditional design method and parametric design method does not meet the ideological of variant design, it need more time and work. With UG/NX platform, authors and collaborator develop rapid analysis and optimization system of bus frame. The analysis-oriented recognition and rapid modeling system of joint in bus frame is part of the system.The system has three functions:identifying joint structure, creating geometrizing model of joint structure, creating finite element model. Firstly, according to the connection relationship in the simplified beam'attributes, we create a primary-secondary structure. According to the distance between the secondary beams, we identify the joint structure and create the seedpoint. Then, according to the information in the seedpoint, calculate the type and the cross section information of the beam and create geometric model of the joint structure. Finally, during the finite element modeling process, the system can automatically create the finite element model file, mesh simplified beams and joint structure, and set the relevant attributes, to solve the difficulties of manually operation. The paper describes the workflow of the system, explains the principle of the system in detail.In order to illustrate the system operation in detail, this paper took a bus frame model for example. It shows that the system can quickly identify and simplify the joints structure of bus. it is significantly more efficiency on creating finite elements and setting elements'attributes than previous design methods. Through the solution of the bus finite model, it points that the model contains the characteristics parameters of joint structure. To verify that the analysis result of the model is accurate, the same model was meshed as shell elements in Hypermesh software. According to the comparison, the deviation created by the system is small, and the analysis result can be a basis for the optimization.
