With the rapid urban development, more and more population crowded into the city and urban construction is more and more advanced, these changes caused a lot of problems. This city processing not only brings the new types of urban space, but also brings some complex issues, such as population density and traffic congestion, etc..To ease the pressure of urban traffic congestion, urban road development from the ground to the air, from the plane to the three-dimensional were to be the inevitable trend. Elevated expressway is an effective solution to solve the problem of urban traffic and many cities have been recognized it by a wide range of construction applications in recent years. From one side, this effective solution helps individuals save money and time. On the other side, the negative impact of urban elevated expressway also can’t be ignored, the new gross amount of the urban elevated expressway breaks the pattern of urban space, seriously affected the elevated building, human settlements and landscape environment, destructed the continuity, unity and integrity of the urban area’s landscape. In order to minimize this effect, the city viaducts green design is crucial. The key of green design is how to subtly transform the negative impact of elevated expressway, combined with urban elevated location, spatial structure, light, water, other natural conditions and especially the characteristics of its cultural industries in the city. Though the green design, we expected improving the living environment of the elevated expressway, meanwhile maintaining the continuity, unity and integrity of the landscape. A green elevated expressway should pay more attention to consider traffic, pedestrian safety, enhance security facilities, and good conservation management of elevated green. In this thesis, the expressway of Chengdu will be researched by plants setting, landscape and maintenance, green design analysis of the status quo. On the above basis, plant configuration, the bridge deck green, four ground road with regional characteristics under the bridge and after the completion of the conservation and management measures preliminary studies and conceptual design of Ring Elevated Expressway of the Second Ring Road in Chengdu will be carried out. In conclusion, this thesis will summarize the green design of expressway, furthermore, the problems which happened in the processing of this design will be put forward in the future investigation to provide some green design experiences of Elevated Expressway in Chengdu and other city.
