Since the 21st Century, China’s economy has made remarkable achievements with the fast development of science and technology, which increases the need for technical talents and skilled talents especially in the maintenance electrician field. In the last few years, vocational education has been growing rapidly and making great development. However, it still remains a bottleneck of educational work in China with a long way to go in reform and development. Many problems are still waited to be settled. For example, secondary vocational schools should pay more attention to practical training during personnel training and teaching structure to improve the students’skills as well as prepare them for the society. Curriculum Instruction base on work process orientation is among the best vocational teaching methods in the world. It challenged the traditional result-orientated teaching method as a reform from knowledge transference to realization transference. This teaching method improves students’interest and creative thoughts through guidance based on the practical work process. This paper raised the research perspective of instructional design of vocational electricians training first through background information and significance of research. Analysis was made on training objectives and present situation based on surveys and questionnaires, thus bringing about the necessity of designing work-process-orientated vocational electricians training. Reform measures included aiming at comprehensive vocational ability, choosing typical work tasks, teaching knowledge of work process based on practical projects to design instruction purpose, content as well as teaching process. Specific illustration was made using the installation of positive inversion control circuit with dual interlock in three-phase asynchronous motor as an example. Our research aims at further promotion of instructional design of vocational electricians training. It has changed the traditional teaching and learning methods by focusing on work process during practical training. What’s more, this instruction pattern also improves students’ technical skills and shortens their adaptation period after work. In a word, this research lays foundation for further reform of other practical courses in various majors in our institution.
