At present, with the building of large-scale engineering projects among domestic area, the crawler crane has rapidly developed, while it also faces the fierce competition. As one of the most important bearing parts, the beam system of crawler crane is the space truss structure. And among the ways of analyzing the boom system in modern design, the finite element method is the most widely used.This paper makes a study on the girder boom of a specific crawler crane, aiming at solving the dynamic issues with the finite element technique and software(ANSYS), and using APDL language to implement the parameter feature modeling. Besides, statics analysis is carried out on the boom, the load is applied according to the load case which is served by working table, and the constraints are exerted on the model as it stands. These works can provide the analytical calculation, the nephogram of static deformation and stress distribution, and complete the check up on the strength and rigidity. Then by using APDL language on the K type structure to finishThe parameter feature modeling and by considering the angle of web member and chord welding, the height of weld, and the welding distance between the web members,it can analyze the local K type structure alone, and provides the reasonable parameters after calculation, then applies the parameters which have been obtained to the whole boom to analyze.In this paper, the optimization design and finite element analysis, as a whole, is the concrete application to the crane for modern design methods, which has a very important meaning to the safety and economy of boom structure and a certain value in engineering application. Based on VC++and APDL of ANSYS parametric design language, this paper has developed the software, which can solve the calculation of the strength and rigidity for the crane boom, by using it, the user can select the model parameters and load parameters on the parametric interface fast and conveniently. After setting the parameters, it can find the solution of structure by running in background. Using interface program developed by VC++ development to input parameters has avoided the repetition of the model modeling, which can save the labor, shorten the design cycle of products, and makes the ordinary engineering technicians can also solve the technical specifications of the crane boom conveniently.
