The human machine system in urban bus is consisted of driver and bus. The interactive relationship between driver and bus is an important factor which has an impact on bus and traffic participants’ safety in bus operation. Therefore, through real vehicle test and simulation test, the human machine characteristic variations of bus were studied during traveling in order to establish the safe evaluation model of ergonomic characteristics of bus based on cognitive psychology.Through practical survey and theoretical analysis, the structural features and human machine properties of bus human-machine system were studied. The characterization parameters and factors of ergonomic properties were obtained. Though designing and implementing actual driving test operation, experimental data of human machine properties parameters were obtained. The characteristic parameters presented in the moving to and leaving bus station(or moving in-out bus stop) were studied with the method of qualitative analysis and certificated for the changes in the process with the Kruskal-Wallis test method. According to the change characteristics of human machine properties parameters in practical driving test, the bus movement and coupling relationship of the bus human machine properties were obtained. Based on driving simulator platform function design and actual vehicle test analysis, the simulation test operation was designed and implemented. The variation of the bus ergonomic properties parameters were studied from the interference with different levels of factor. The bus ergonomic property in safety operation was deduced. Based on the basic BP neural network theory, the safe evaluation model of human machine properties of bus was established through selecting modeling parameters, training samples, testing samples, and developing programs.
