With the great development of the shipping industry in China, the safety of ships is paid more attention. Improving the human-machine engineering of ship cab plays an important role for reducing the number of ship accidents, improving the system efficiency and protecting the safety of the crew. At present, the study on the visual evaluation of ship cab human-machine engineering is relatively less and there is much limitation of its application. This paper makes the study on the human-machine engineering of ship cab, summarizes the evaluation theory of ship cab human-machine engineering and the development status of virtual simulation technology, and establishes the virtual simulation system of ship cab human-machine engineering with Virtools, achieves the visual evaluation.This paper mainly studies on the relationship of the ship cab human-machine system,building virtual crew database, virtual simulation system and so on. The main work is as follows:Analyze the relation of ship cab human-machine system. Summarize the design requirements of ship cab human-machine engineering from an overall perspective; then, make a research about human-computer interface and working environment and make an extended analysis of the underlying design factors.Build virtual crew database. Based on anthropometry and relevant theoretical knowledge of human dynamics, build our country's crew body models by using 3dsMax. Simulate the task action such as walk, operation key, observe, toggle switch, and so on. Control the behavior of virtual crew in Virtools platform and program the script.Develop the virtual simulation system of ship cab human-machine engineering.Determine the design thought and technical framework of the virtual simulation system, then make immense amounts of concrete research, including three-dimensional digitalization model, real-time virtual simulation driven and human-computer interaction design. Put forward the concrete implementation method of visual human-machine engineering evaluation and design the checklist of human-machine environment evaluation.Build a virtual simulation system of a transport ship cab based on virtual simulation technology and evaluate the cab in the visual environment. The evaluation results is analyzed deeply, and based on that, the suggestions for improvement are put forward.
