The Research & Implementation Of Container Ship Stowage Evaluation System

As an advanced modern transportation, container transportation has advantages of rapid, safe and high quality, has become one of the most important modes of maritime transportation. The stowage of container ship is an important part of container transportation. With the development of vessels with large-scale, high-speed and the diversification of the cargos, the stowage work becomes more and more complicated. The damage ship structures, casualties, pollutions of the ocean environment and other kinds of serious security incidents have occurred due to unreasonable stowage. Facing of current international situation with a high speed development of container ships and intelligence of stowage software, training, examination and evaluation of crew in our country still using the tradition artificial way, but now, it has shown many drawbacks. In order to improve the professional competence of seaman who working on the container ships, pursuant to the relevant international conventions and domestic current legislation, combined with the requirement of relevant advanced navigation colleges, Maritime Safety Administration at all levels and shipping enterprises, we studied the crucial challenges exist in the process of stowage, and eventually developed the container ship stowage evaluation system. The main contents are as follows:Based on the B/S development architecture, the container ship stowage evaluation system has been developed with Java web, Java script, MySQL and other computer network programming technologies, designed and developed automatic evaluation function for the container ship stowage plan. Importantly, deeply analyzed, studied and established evaluation models for the key problems occurring in the process of stowage, such as re-stowage of container, non-empty container extrusion empty container, the stowage and separation of dangerous containers, the stowage of reefer containers, ship local strength, and accomplished the evaluate functions. In order to meet the requirement of the seaman’ competency assessment, the container ship stowage evaluation system has set up three subsystems namely the online examination system, the examination management system and the supervise management system.In order to verify the feasibility of the container ship stowage evaluation system, some marine officers, college students and assessors are selected to test it, the functions of system can meet the requirements of seaman’competency assessment examination.This system successfully realized the automatic evaluation of container ship stowage plan, which is of great significance in the improvement of the professional level of container ship seaman in our country and navigation colleges teaching quality. At the same time, is also provides a certain support for the design and development of the intelligent container ship stowage system.
