With the acceleration of China’s urbanization and the development of science and technology, electric bicycles, as the best short-distance means of transport, enjoy a high popularity among Chinese people with their energy saving, convenience and economical advantages. And the number of electric bicycles owned by Chinese people will have reached 249 million by 2017, The rising demand for electric bicycles fosters a growing emphasis on such emotional demands as on aesthetics comfort and environmental protection in addition to the basic functions of electric bikes, prompting the design workers to explore new design methods.As one of the most viable methods of innovative design, bionic design has naturally been applied to the development process of new products by designers. Bionic design focuses on human psychological needs and emphasizes the harmony between man, nature and the products. Compared to electric bicycles, bionic design applications are still at an early stage of attempt. Unlike the mature development of auto bionic design, electric bicycles body shape bionic design has just recently drawn designers’ attention because of audiences differences and the degree of self-development of electric bicycles. This paper, starting From the basic bionic theory, further studies the application of bionic design to electric bike styling design, summarizes the basic theory of electric bike styling bionic design, and constructs the conceptive cognition and basic methods of electric bike styling bionic design and specifies bionic goal. Specific design examples are used to illustrate the feasibility of bionic design electric bike styling design. This paper proposes creation relying on creative thinking of bionic design creation on the part of the designers, in order to enrich empirical experience on electric bike styling bionic design and avoid stiff imitation.
