The automobile industry has been the pillar industry of economy in China in recent years, and the development of new automobile products is the core of the industrial technology. Automotive product development, is a very complex system engineering, in the entire development process needs to invest huge human, financial, material resources, and the development cycle is long, the risk is great. Therefore, the new product project must have the whole process of a set of scientific management procedures, and in accordance with the execution of the program. However, with the increasing demands of customer groups and changes, the market competition intensifies, the automotive industry is experiencing an unprecedented period of rapid development. Long period of the traditional development process by a great impact, how to develop a consistent with the production requirements of the product market has become a problem of major OEMs in the shortest time. Technical ideas, major OEMs gradually worked out a change from the new model for development platform development. In the management, PDCA(Plan Do Check Action), APQP(Advanced Product Quality Planning), TQM(Total Quality Management) and SE(Simultaneous Engineering) and other concepts are constantly being introduced.Concurrent engineering simultaneous engineering(SE) is a kind of modern engineering methods, it stands in the product design and manufacturing the height of the whole process, to break the traditional structure of the organization to bring part of the concept of independence, emphasize the participation of cooperative effect and synchronization of product development. Change traditional planning research and development- trial production ready- trial production- quality control mode of serial development, the product development of every sub process as much as possible to synchronize and the requirements of the downstream upstream of early intervention, start a feasible according to the upstream state, also will follow the constraint conditions ahead by introducing the product development process, as far as possible to meet the requirements of all aspects of. Each sub process between close coordination, the establishment of a major decision of product development process based on functional team consensus, in order to obtain the best matching time, quality and cost.The paper attempts to optimize the f automobile company existing product development process, the purpose of which is to increase reliability design, reduce the number of engineering changes and rework, to reduce the quality cost, shorten the product development cycle, improve the competitiveness of products. Mainly based on the concept of simultaneous engineering, combined with the current situation and existing problems of F company’s product development project, and put forward the improvement scheme. Mainly from all stages of product development work, including project procurement process, project organization structure, process quality management situation analysis, find out the existing problems, optimize the design, and put forward the guarantee measures for the implementation of process improvement. In this paper, the improvement of product development process of F automobile company, not only has important significance to the enterprise, but also has some reference value to other enterprises in the same industry.
