Stable electric power system operation is the basis for industrial production. Smooth operation of essential equipment or components of transformers and other components which make up the power system is the key of stable electric power system operation. Electric system needs to do inspection work for power equipment regularly or irregularly to safeguard stable electric power system operation. Then, relevant departments will do analysis and decisionmaking for data. So the quality of inspection work will affect the results of the analysis directly. To meet the higher requirements of inspection work by power grid and to solve out some problems of traditional inspection work such as low speed, many limits, easy loss and so on, it is necessary to use mobile phones and some other equipment to do mobile inspection work at the power system. The fast development of mobile internet, internet of things, cloud computing, big data and some other information technology establish the solid foundation for mobile inspection system which is able to be carried easily, local-storage or remote communications and able to outdoor work.This paper, based on the state power inspection standards and closely contacting the content of daily inspection work, analyses the application scenarios and business process of inspection work. At the same time, this paper extracts the functions of mobile inspection system and designs data models for information requirements of inspection system and inspection platform for electrical equipment based on cloud computing. The mobile inspection gathering software is supported by Android mobile phones and tablet PC.In this system, cloud computing center is built based on SOA framework. Cloud computing server and data server are concretely realized by XML Web server and Socket technology of Microsoft. Backend database servers in cloud are built by SQL Server. Administrative client is realized by Win Form programming. Mobile terminal is developed by Java and C++. Interface communication with server in cloud uses HTTP and Socket agreements.The system which is deployed in mobile phones and tablet PC, can complete all kinds of essential information maintenance and design, download, executing and analysis of inspection work. When do inspection work on the scene of transmission equipment, power transformation equipment and controller switching equipment, workers can take photos, transcribe sound and video to keep field data real and firsthand. And then, when use vehicle-mounted inspection system to gather field data, workers can save inspection track and field video together.When system proceeds inspection work, mobile terminal uses synchronization or asynchronous communication to contact with the website and cloud computing center. Dynamic interaction of data of terminal and background "cloud" realizes a new work model named "whenever and wherever working". Mobile inspection system makes inspection system for power equipment more flexible, efficient, extend easily, standardization and informationized to do useful exploring for intelligent inspection in the further.
