Construction industry is an important part of China’s national economic development. Since the reform and opening up, China’s fixed asset investment is growing dramatically and construction industry is also developing vigorously. In contrast to the rapid development of construction industry, its production efficiency is declining. One major reason for the low efficiency of project management in construction is the low level of IT application. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the level of IT application in construction industry so as to improve the efficiency of engineering construction. BIM technology, an effective solution to the problem, can transform the previous extensive management into delicacy management of the construction industry and realize a life-long management of the construction project. With the development of society, BIM technology is gaining more and more attention nowadays and people are putting increasing efforts to the research on it. On the research of construction project progress management, BIM technology mainly focuses on 4D simulation with less attention to 4D project schedule management. There are even rarer studies on site management during construction process in super-sized, high-rise or narrow-space projects. The traditional floor plan cannot reflect the complex and dynamic changes during the construction process, which becomes a great difficulty of progress management. For this problem, this thesis tries to conduct research on BIM technology’s 4D project schedule management applications and focus on site management. The thesis aims to provide a practical application model for the site management of construction process and provide material for BIM technology’s application in progress management of construction projects.By studying on the 4D project schedule management applications of BIM technology, the thesis analyzes the basic workflow of its 4D project schedule management applications and builds up an application model. The structure of the thesis is as followings:firstly, it analyzes the principle and characteristics of BIM’s application in 4D pattern; secondly, it explores the feasibility of BIM technology’s 4D model application in site management and builds up a 4D site management mode; thirdly, by case simulation, it practices the site management in 4D mode and provides a referential pattern for future construction progress management.
