Project management is a scientific management of resources, project time and project quality. Now project management has become more and more cross industry, cross regional and global business management is one of the important means. According to the contents of PMBOK(project management knowledge system), the project management is mainly included in the nine areas. Among them, the project schedule management is the core content of the project management, and it has been the focus of the experts and scholars at home and abroad. However, for some small projects, the project management has many unreasonable places in the actual implementation process. In particular, the implementation of the project schedule management is not very optimistic, it not only directly affect the construction project can be delivered on time, but also related to the overall project investment activities can be achieved smoothly, so the project management is a very important part of the project management process.In this paper, we hope that through the introduction of project management theory, especially the advanced progress management theory of project management, the M company in a residential area in the X building project progress management problems, through scientific research and analysis. In view of these problems, the key chain method in the application of network planning technology is used to make a new plan for the M residential district project. In the end, some scientific control methods are proposed for the problems in the process of the project schedule control. Thus liberating the shackles of the weak project management, so that the company’s project management to achieve qualitative change, the most important is the implementation of strategic guidance project management. This provides a way to improve the management efficiency of the project schedule management, and it has some guidance for the research of project management.
