The railway transportation is of crucial importance in the whole land freight transportation system in China, which is related to the stable operation of national economy. However, the transportation market entered in free competition era, with the economic sustainable developing and market economic system gradual being mature, and railway freight transportation is facing severe competition. In order to adapt to the demand in railway freight transportation development and modern logistics, there are a lot of problems need to be solved, such as allocating modern assemble and unassembled mechanical equipment, improving quality and speed, decreasing the cost and so on.In order to solve the problem of loading and unloading machines allocation and application effectively and map out a plan of the quantity of the machines on a rational basis, this paper studies the problem of optimizing the loading and unloading mechanism of Kunming Railway Bureau, and focus on the research to determine the number of reach stacker at Kunming container logistics center station. The main research contents as follows:(1) The basic situation is obtained by collecting, analyzing, processing the data of assemble and unassembled operation in Kunming railways bureau, and it is combined with the plan and development situation of modern logistics centre to get the logistics’influence result on assemble and unassembled operation. Besides, the demand of assemble and unassembled operation is analyzed from freight condition, volume and custom demand to find the problems of assemble and unassembled mechanical equipment.(2)For the problems of loading and unloading operations in Kunming Railway Bureau, the research present three types results:strengthen the concentrated integration of loading and unloading machine, advance the professionalization and standardization of loading and unloading machine and improve the information and Intelligent level of loading and unloading machine.(3) Research the optimal types of Container loading and unloading machinery of Kunming Railway Bureau and focus on front-crane and semi-trailer、hump transport equipment.(4)Making Kunming container center station as an example, construct a linear model based on the optimal operation flow of the saturated loading and unloading period to determine the optimal number of front-cranes. The original results of the model’s application is analyzed and 10 front-cranes should be configured for the container center, seven of which will load and unload container trucks, two of which will load and unload container trains and one of which will load and unload container trucks in secondary zone.
