The rail high-speed grinding was a new type grinding technology developed in abroad recently, whose grinding speed was 60-80km/h。 Compared with traditional grinding, the high-speed grinding has unique advantages in removing the rolling rolling contact failure, improving the service life of rail, reducing the noise level and arranging the working time.This paper carries out a systematic study on the mechanism of rail high-speed grinding.Firstly, the influences of grinding parameters, millstone’s parameters and environment on the effect of high-speed grinding were studied by structuring high-speed grinding test-bed, analyzing and trial-producing.the grinding millstone. Secondly, the mechanical structures and hydraulic systems of the high-speed grinding trial vehicle were reasonably designed according to the achievements of the study on the high-speed grinding test-bed. Then, the running safeties of the grinding trial vehicle at different working status and different grinding speed were studied by establishing the dynamic model of the grinding trial vehicle according to the designed grinding trial’s structure parameters and inputting the millstone force got in the high-speed grinding test-bed study, so as to provide technical guidance for high-speed grinding trial vehicle to grind on the test line. Finally, the influences of grinding parameters including the grinding speed and the grinding pressure on the effect of high-speed grinding were studied by using the high-speed grinding trial vehicle on the test line.The key production techniques of the high-speed grinding millstone were grasped by analyzing the parameters and the compositions of the millstone used on the current high speed grinder. And then the millstone used on the high-speed grinding trial vehicle was developed after repeating research. Meanwhile, the trial vehicle was successfully developed after repeating design.With the dynamical model of the trial vehicle, the studies show that different grinding status and grinding parameters have a certain effect on the vehicle dynamics performance, but they have no threat to the vehicle running safety.The studies on the test-bed and on the test line show that different grinding parameters including grinding speed, grinding pressure, different millstone and environment will have a certain influence on the grinding effect.Therefore, the appropriate grinding parameters should be chosen by comprehensively considering their influence on the millstone force, the rail grinding thickness, the millstone wear rate and the rail surface roughness. Similarly, the influences of millstone parameters on the millstone self-sharpening, millstone’s service life, grinding thickness and the rail surface roughness should also be comprehensively considered in choosing the millstone.Now the study on the mechanism of rail high-speed grinding is still on initial stage, which is far away from the high-speed grinding vehicle industrialization and grinding on the truck railway.Therefore, it needs large amounts of follow-up explorations.
