Study And Development Of Brake Lining Test System Based On Virtual Instrument

The braking ability is one of the important items in safety check for vehicle. Brake lining is the key part of the braking system, directly related to the automobile’s braking effect. The test of the brake lining’s performance mainly relies on the friction testing machine. At present, there are more advanced test systems, but because of the new equipment investment is larger, some quality supervision bureau still using the original testing equipment. The device is older, there are some problems in the process of using, such as large noise, large friction disk bouncing, and large fluctuations of the temperature control curve. With the development of the mechanical technology, sensor technology and computer virtual technology, it is very necessary to improve the software and hardware of the lining testing equipment.LabVIEW is originally designed for test and measurement. After years development, LabVIEW has gained wide support in this field. At present, most mainstream testing instruments and data acquisition devices have dedicated LabVIEW driver, using LabVIEW can control those hardware equipments conveniently. Therefore, we select LabVIEW as the software development platform.After analysis the existing friction testing machine in the quality supervision bureau, improved the existing hardware defects. Start from the device, choose a more appropriate bearing, and re-select the material and redesign the structure of the bearing block, which can effectively avoid the dust pollution and reduce noise. Choosing the appropriate sensing devices and conditioning circuit, to improve the accuracy of the test signal, which lay a good foundation for later data processing. Given the power of the virtual instrument, choosing LabVIEW to develop the test system, control the machine, and calculate processing of the collected data, which makes the lining test system more intelligent.
