In order to shorten the development cycle of the CVT and reduce the workload of the design, this dissertation, based on the Pro/E 5 platform, using Visual Studio 2008 to develop the rapid design system of CVT founded on modularization. Focusing on the development of CVT rapid design system, this dissertation studies the determination of the main design parameters of CVT, the clustering and division of the module, the establishment of the rapid design system,and the confirmation of the systematic rationality.(1) The analysis and modeling of CVT. The author analyzes the motion regularity of CVT by its characteristics to confirm the CVT’s main design rules and parameters. Furthermore, the author sketches the 3D model in the Pro/E software in order to provide a model basis for the development of rapid design system.(2) The clustering and division of modules. The dissertation employs the fuzzy clustering algorithm to divide CVT into several parts. In the process of division, weight of relevant factors has been determined by applying analytic hierarchy process(AHP). The mathematical evaluation model will be built on three evaluation indexes including the difficulty of module combination, the coupling degree between modules and the cohesion of the modules. Thus CVT will be divided into three modules.(3) The research and the development of the rapid design system of CVT. Apart from dividing modules of CVT, the author develops the rapid design system of CVT using Pro/E secondary development technology, database access technology, parametric technology, and automatic assembling technology. The system is able to design rapidly and produce personalized 3D model of CVT automatically.(4) The Adams software is used to simulate and analyze the accuracy of CVT, which proves that the system is applicable.In conclusion, the CVT rapid design system aims to automatically produce personalized 3D model of CVT, which will relieve the workload of designers and shorten the development cycle of CVT.
