With the end of welfare housing distribution system, the construction of residential areas in many cities of China develops with a rapid steps for the residential commercialization.Under this situation, contiguous residential areas with multi-storey and medium density buidings appears in many cities.But on the one hand, residential areas at that time can not match the needs of people today on the green spaces and infrastructures and so on,on the other hand,for the influences of land transfer mode and residential construction methods,green space of these contiguous residential areas is ineffective,because systemic and integrity planning methods was lacking which is the understanding of a real and comprehensive ecological benefits must be based on. For the aim of stock land planning, biodiversity protection and the improvement of urban environmental today, changing the traditional thinking and planning methods constructing residential areas in terms of residential construction, and making it in a multi-dimension is the key to a real efficient green systems, especialy for the aim of Sponge City, Garden City and Openning Settlements constructions and so on.So,based on the awareness and understanding of the backgrounds and situations of research, this paper attempts to re-understand the meaning of ecological benefits of residential green spaces in accordance with urban ecosystem operating rules,and find out the focus, directions and ways of urban green space system construction refer some relevant research results.This paper has five parts:(1) This paper firstly makes a parse to the research backgrounds, research contents, analytical methods and frame;(2) The second part is the part of the basic theoretical analysis including chaper2 and chapter3 of this paper. This part mainly revels the operating rules of residential green system and make the content of green ecological functions more clear. Among this part, chapter2 introduced the concept of Contiguous settlements, residential green space and ecological optimization, besides, the analysis of the key points and difficulties of residential green space construction also included.Chapter3 is aimed to make the contents of residential green ecological function clear.(3) The key part of this paper is chapter4, it is also a transitional part which is aimed to propose the ways of research, contents, scales and evaluation elements and some other analysis and evaluation factors.(4) The fourth part of this paper is chapter5. In this part, this paper choosed Chengdu as an example to make a deeper analysis. Firstly, this part defined the distribution of contiguous settlements according to buffer analysis of Arcgis10.2, and consider the spatial autocorrelation index and green coverage rate at the same time, this paper choose Shengxianshu area as the final research zone. Secondly, it used Fragstats4.2 to compute some evaluation index. Finaly, through the status survey, find out the way of construction level as a guid to the optimization of green space structure.(5) The final part of this paper is chapter6. For the difficulties that may be encountered in practice, this part makes sevral suggestions, hoping to be helpful in the future research and practice.In the process of research, this paper blazed some new trails:[1] From the current problems most cities faced and shortage of relevant studies in the legal system, the focus of this study is to on green space structure of contiguous settlements; [2] Combining urban ecology, landscape ecology and other disciplines theory and methods, make residential green ecological benefits of specific content more clear. [3] Promoted the study and practice of landscape ecology and some other subject; [4] Giving a trial on the aspects of ecological modification of inner city regeneration, which is a key point for building a better and sustainable human settlement on the background of ecological civilization is becoming a more and more important role in our nation as well as the global world.
