With the acceleration of urbanization process in China, as important equipment in construction industry, tower cranes have been widely used. For lacking of effective supervision, safety accidents occur frequently. In order to reducing the number of accidents, there is an urgent need to develop monitoring and controlling system of tower crane which is directly related to security of life and property. In order to ensure the safety and reliability of the system, effective and thorough test is necessary before operating. The traditional manual test cannot match the need of mass production, however, there is no special test tools aimed at tower crane monitoring system on the market. Associating with automated test technology, this dissertation designed and developed a set of software for the functional test of tower crane safety monitoring system.The main contents are as follows:Firstly, according to the background of the research, the limitations of the test were analyzed and the demand of automated testing was put forward. Then the significance of this topic was put forward according to the insignificance of current research in this area. At last, the domestic and international developments in automated test systems, test automation technology and reliability testing were introduced.Secondly, starting from the angle of system reliability, the theories of mathematical statistics, reliability test and reliability assessment were introduced, which provided theoretical support for the test article.Thirdly, according to the requirements of factory test for crane safety monitoring system, conceptual model of automated test system was put forward, the communication protocol and the database were designed. Then the test software was developed based on Visual Studio 2008 C #, the Microsoft Office Access was used as database and the ZigBee modules was used to communicate with the system under test. At last, man-machine interface, communications and test functionality modules of test software were completed. Modules contained communications testing, configuration testing and anti-collision test.At last, the black box testing was used to design test case and test environment was set up. With the help of test software, the following procedures were automatically completed, including executing test cases, collecting failure data and analyzing results.
