The friction power loss in internal combustion engine caused about 80% of the total engine power loss, which piston ring-cylinder liner friction loss accounted for about 20% of the total friction loss. Analysis of each parameter and comprehensive selection can provide guidance on the design of piston ring-cylinder liner, the lubrication conditions of piston ring-cylinder liner, the economy and the power of the internal combustion engine can be improved.In this paper, a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is taken as the research object. The structural parameters such as the axial height of the ring, the radial thickness of the ring, the barrel surface height of the ring, the elasticity of the ring, surface roughness and the operating parameters such as secondary motion, cylinder pressure, oil viscosity influence on lubrication of piston ring-cylinder liner friction pairs are analyzed. (1) Sufficient lubrication analysis of the piston ring-cylinder liner frictional under different structural parametersA multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is taken as the research object, the multi-dimensional and asperity contact model of piston ring-cylinder liner lubrication is established. The finite difference method combined with SOR was used to solve the average Reynolds equation in the lubrication analysis of piston ring. The structural parameters influence on lubrication of piston ring-cylinder liner friction pairs are analyzed.(2) Sufficient lubrication analysis of the piston ring-cylinder liner frictional under different operating parametersA multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is taken as the research object, the swing angle and the radial acceleration which generated by the piston secondary motion is introduced in the model of piston ring-cylinder liner lubrication. The operating parameters influence on lubrication of piston ring-cylinder liner friction pairs are analyzed.(3) The lubrication analysis of the piston ring-cylinder liner frictional under different structural parameters and operating parameters considering the lubricating oil transport statusA multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is taken as the research object, the model of oil transport between piston ring and cylinder liner was established based on the equation of oil flow and the volume change of the control volume. The structural parameters and the operating parameters influence on lubrication of piston ring-cylinder liner friction pairs are analyzed in which the volume of oil at piston ring inlet is determined by the oil volume of oil on the corresponding location of cylinder liner wall left behind by the piston ring at previous stroke.
