Currently, with the development of university campus’ planning concept and architectural design and the increase of students’ spiritual culture and communication demands at each stage, the usage and functional structure of university buildings have been greatly changed, and the campus public spaces are integrated into organic system. University buildings are the spatial carrier of university culture. Higher requirements on the modeling of investigations in collective form and the composite design of space of university buildings are put forward due to changes of campus form, learning and living mode.On the basis of studying and researching the new requirements on campus planning and architecture design put forward due to changes of university education concept, this paper introduces the “Collective Form” theory of integrated urban and architectural design to the university learning resource center, a design of large building(group) emphasizing students’ independent research and communication, and sets forth the functional structure, development trend and spatial characteristics of the spatial cluster of intensive university buildings by exploring the theory of university campus building and “Collective Form”, trying to further discuss the composite design of “Collective Form” of university learning resource center. Meanwhile, combining the place theory and environmental behaviors, it also analyzes the human interaction space and spatial behavior experience, aiming at reaching superimposed effect that “the whole is greater than the sum of the parts” of spatial cluster. With studio engineering examples, the paper combs and compares the cases of composite design of university learning resource center under “Collective Form” and forms comprehensive evaluation through classification, analysis, illustration and discussion so as to provide research data for university learning resource center, a kind of new university architecture design integrating campus and buildings.
