As a pillar industry of the national economy, along with the rapid development of economy, China’s power system also ushered in a period of rapid development. The scale of power grid is rapidly expanding; the number of relay protection equipment is also growing rapidly. Thus, the traditional equipment periodical maintenance mode is gradually exposed to the problem of frequent maintenance, inadequate maintenance and blind maintenance, meanwhile, the workload surge and maintenance personnel shortage is increasingly prominent, it has been unable to adapt to the requirements of the development of power grid. Therefore, there is the urgent need to carry out the research of relay protection Condition-based maintenance management.This paper innovatively put forward that the multi-source data fusion technology is applied to relay protection Condition-based maintenance decision, which can effectively enhance the efficiency and effect of relay protection Condition-based maintenance, improve the reliability of power supply, reduce outage time for maintenance, cut the cost of operation and maintenance, reduce equipment total life cycle cost.In this paper, the relay protection Condition-based maintenance status and the requirements of power grid enterprises on relay protection maintenance are introduced, to emphasize the necessity and practical significance of the development of Research on decision support system of relay protection Condition-based maintenance based on multi-source information fusion. Then, it describes the basic concept and the main purpose of the Condition-based maintenance and discusses relay protection Condition-based maintenance technology. Based on the investigation of the implementation of the relay protection Condition-based maintenance of the State Grid Corporation of China, the paper analyzes the current problem of the implementation of relay protection Condition-based maintenance work. Combined with the current status of the relay protection maintenance technology, the indexes of relay protection condition evaluation are put forward based on the multi-source information fusion technology, the relay protection condition evaluation system is also established. Finally, relying on the company smart grid dispatching technical support system basic platform, it carries out research on the application technology of relay protection Condition-based maintenance through the existing accessible effective data information, and complete the technical scheme design of the decision support system of relay protection Condition-based maintenance. Depending on the system to achieve relay protection Condition-based maintenance and whole process closed-loop control of the equipment management, and continuously improve the lean equipment management level.
