Electricity is one of the most widely used and most important energy in the world. The security and stable operation of power system plays an important role in the national economy,people’s life and social stability. Because of natural disaster or man-made factors caused by power system faults, such as not timely and effective control, power system will lose stability,the collapse of the power system, and caused large area blackout, bring disastrous consequences. Relay protection(including safety automatic device) is the most basic, most important and effective technical means to ensure the safety of power equipment and to prevent and limit the power system long time and large area power outages. Many fault cases show that strengthening the design and setting calculation of relay protection is an important task to ensure the safe and stable operation of power grid.To meet the power system of relay protection reliability, selectivity, sensitivity, speed and mobility requirements, give full play to the efficiency of relay protection device, there must be a reasonable choice of protection setting value, in order to maintain the cooperation in between the protection.The according to La Nan substation as the main data, detailed introduced the transformer differential protection, overcurrent, gas protection and line protection setting calculation. And how the setting calculation and test analysis to selected 35 kV Power Grid Relay Protection of various types of protection, starting from the standards prescribed by the state, relay protection design and selection are determined, determined to calculate the protection operation mode.
