In recent years, with the development of economic and technique, there are more and more overseas projects. In order to let relay give full play for those power system, it is necessary to do research with the relay setting calculation of foreign network and apply support. Due to tradition and experience, each country has its own way in running and designing its power system, which is somewhat different from China. Considering those dissimilarity, relay setting should not only consider the relay configuration, cooperation among relays, operation mode of the power system, but also the settings should be transferred to what can be used directly by relay equipment. Combined with foreign engineering project, this thesis concerns with problems with relay setting calculation for specific foreign power system, and presents the way to solve those problems.The specific foreign power system is single power resources system, which serves customers within a loop network. Besides, it has short distance cable transmission lines with its neutral point solid grounded. The thesis analysis the power system's relay configuration and presents a suitable configure list for all of the power devices which can satisfy the need for the security of power network, including transformer, bus bars, transmission lines.To fulfill the relay setting work, short circuit calculation is absolutely necessary. The thesis describes the way to set up the short circuit calculation platform by using the PSASP program, and solves the problem with simulating the zig-zag transformer by changing the connection type and modifying the zero sequence impedance.Besides, the thesis proposes a novel measured impedance-based distance relay setting calculation method, which proved to be more simple but effective.After analyzing the relay principle, the thesis describes the detailed relay setting work for a specific station with its transmission lines, transformers, bus bars.In the end ,the thesis summarizes the research achievement and prospect the further study direction.
