Because of the corrosion status of dedicated seawater ballast tanks, and a serious threat to the safety of navigation and the structural safety of the ship, the International Maritime Organization started to implement the Performance Standard for Protective Coatings for Dedicated seawater ballast tanks in all types of ships And double side skin spaces of bulk carriers (PSPC) in 2009. The implementation of the standard is not only related to the coating, but also relates to the coating process, coating testing and approval, management system certification and other aspects.In this paper, paint coatings for shipbuilding application of new standard has been systematically studied. First the main contents of the International Maritime Organization coating standard were analyzed and studied theoretically by understanding, and then the practical application. The application process, the implementation of enterprise based on the original coating on the ship were improved and perfected so as to meet the new standard requirements.Pretreatment of steel, structural processing, and segment, the total group, slipway (dock) and pier rust coating of the whole steel surface treatment and coating technology were studied to form a coating process and crafts. Steel pretreatment surface roughness to 80μm, structural grinding process to 2mm round, and the distribution of the amount of dust particles reach the surface of the sub-level 1 were obtained. Coating protection system was performed to make improve on practice. From coating protection after hull block painting to the berth/dock collapsed and collapsed after coating and finally to the cabin scaffolding ride to increase protective measures for each step, the results showed that after the destruction of the collapsed area of the steel surface is less than 2% of the total area. Comparison of suitable paint coating technology was carried out to make steel sheet epoxy coating NDFT reach 320μm and meet the 90/10 principle. According to the coating process and technology standard, the research establish a sound management system. Use reasonable testing method for quality tracking and management, especially in the use of steel surface salt content measurement techniques, trial suitable steel surface salt content control means for measuring and controlling steel surface salt content to less than 50 mg/m2.In this study, to the defect of current shipbuilding coating crafts and technologies, a series of studies and improvements were carried out. By improving technology, updating equipment, testing methods and other changes designed to address the new PSPC standard, and improve coating efficiency, shorten shipbuilding cycle and cost savings.
