With the continuous development of society, our country needs more and more energy, and the standard of energy is more and more strict, this requires the energy sources is not only convenient and renewable, also requires it is clean and the burning gases does not pollute the environment. Under this background, the demands for electricity is also getting higher, nuclear energy is clean which can replace conventional energy on a large scale, so it plays a more important proportion in power grid. Not only that, nuclear power plant capacity is particularly large. And compares to the principle of operation of thermal power unit and the hydropower unit, nuclear power unit is different. Normally, the nuclear power unit is regarded as a numerical stable power source, once the power of nuclear power unit changed, it will affect the safe and stable operation of the power grid. Therefore, it is necessary to create a detailed mathematical model of nuclear power units and research the relationship between nuclear power units and power grid, this will ensure the safe operation of nuclear power plants.In this paper, the research object is a new type of pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant, an integrated simulation platform of electric and power is established. The simulation platform combines with the nuclear power plant model, cold line model and reactor core model. It simulates with the reactor control system, two-loop turbine, speed regulation system, the generator and its control system together. By using this simulation platform, this paper analyzes the inherent characteristics of nuclear power plants, the interaction between power grid and power control, the operation and control characteristics of the nuclear power plant under the condition of power grid fault. This paper proposes a kind combined control strategy by using rod and boron concentration, it ensures the power of the core under the safety range. It uses the power compensation channel to enhance the reaction speed of the control system which ensures the power of the core in the safe range. Through the simulation of the changes in linear power and power step, it shows that the strategy of the power control can meet the load tracking performance requirements for nuclear power plant.
