Impact test is one of the important methods to evaluate the safety of automobile wheels. In 2012 CITIC Dicastal built the wheel radial impact test method in China. The research object of this paper is aluminum alloy wheel of low pressure casting process. It mainly research the material performance and radial impact test performance of the wheel by using the material performance analysis equipment, the radial impact test machine and the finite element analysis software. In the end, evaluate the safety performance of the wheel in the radial impact test. On this basis, establish the radial impact model for finite element analysis and obtain the results. The main technical methods and research results are as follows:By using spectrum analyzer, tensile tester, hardness tester, optical microscope and dye penetration test, get the material performance of the selected aluminum alloy wheel. Then compare test results with standard of the wheel and get a qualified conclusion. It shows that the wheel has the typical characteristic.According to method of wheel radial impact test, test and evaluate the safety performance of aluminum alloy wheels. Based on the test data analysis, it considers that the deformation location is on the inner rim of the wheel after impact. Analyze and evaluate the failure performance of the wheels under different energy impacted.Build and analyze radial impact test system model of the wheel by using the finite element analysis software. In this process, summarize some technical parameters and the plastic strain curves of aluminum alloy wheels. The analysis results show that the deformation results are consistent with the actual test and the wheel maximum stress concentration point is in the rim groove.
