As a fully assembled connection style, angle beam-column connections with guesst plates connect beam and column with high strength bolts and angle steel and guesst plates welded to the beam flange. In addition to having good stiffness, strength and ductility, this kind of joints still have the advantages of saving labor, safety environmental protection.which is convenient for industrialized production etc, is a kind of ideal connection form. Conventional structure design usually presumes that joints are ideally pinned.This paper investigates the flexural behavior of angle beam-column connections with guesst plates through experiment study, three-dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis.Three types of construction of angle beam-column connections with gusset plates, were studied using static test and hysteresis test, obtained the moment rotation curve of the specimens and related data of the failure pattern.Finite element models are established and verified the results with test. In the parametric study, compared with angle beam-column connections with guesst plates and other joints in different forms.The models were used to evaluate the flexural stiffness, strength, and ductility of braced frame connections with primary attention on the effects of beam depth, angle thickness, gusset plate shape, gusset plate size and thickness and a supplemental seat angle.Through the study of the test results and finite element method, this paper obtained the following conclusions:(1) Effect of gusset plate to the joint is large, angle beam-column connections with guesst plates possess appreciable flexural stiffness, strength, and ductility; increasing beam depth and angle thickness and adding a supplemental seat angle all increased the stiffness and strength of the connection while maintaining deformation capacity. Increasing the beam depth by 20%,the stiffness and strength of connection are increased by 40% and 30% respectively. Increasing the top angle depth by 20%,the stiffness and strength of connection are increased by 12% and 16% respectively. Set the seat angle, stiffness and strength improved more significantly, increased by 35% and 51%.(2) Due to different loading modes, the stiffness and strength of the angle beam-column connections with guesst plates and the top and seat angle connections with double web angle(top angle stiffened) differ greatly.(3) According to the results of test and finite element analysis, puts forward the calculation formula of bending stiffness of angle beam-column connections with guesst plates.
