Rutting is one of the most typical and common type of disease s of asphalt pavement,which not only reduces driving operational stability and comfort,but also endangers traffic safety. Therefore, accurate prediction of rutting depth and considering the impact of the rutting disease during road design and maintenance are very important.The prediction model of rutting depth was established based on the test principle of dynamic stability,then the quantitative relationship between the DS value,which is the most common parameter for evaluating the high temperature stability of asphalt mixtures in the world,and the rutting depth on asphalt pavement was established. The single and double layers wheel track tests under different temperature were carried out,then the model was revised and also proved by detected results of real rutting depth of asphalt pavement and ABAQUS finite element simulation. The influence of temperature,traffic volume and the type of base course were also considered in the prediction model. The durability design method was suggested by comparing the annual rutting depth predicted by prediction model and local maximum permissible rutting depth of each pavement design scheme,whose flow was the reverse process of rutting depth predication. According to the durability design method,the service life of asphalt pavement could be predicted base on its design scheme and the quantitative relationship between them could also be established. Meanwhile,in order to simplify the calculation of rutting prediction and durability design,the asphalt pavement rutting prediction software was developmented.The results show that the flowing type rutting on real pavement could be predicted by using the DS value of asphalt mixture and other related parameters,and the rutting predication model is useful to put forward the anti-rutting durability design method of asphalt pavement with different material and structure. Finally, the prediction model is reliable and accurate to predict rutting depth of asphalt pavement,in which the maximum error of rutting depth between the measured values and predicted values is less than 3mm. The model is valuable for using in practical engineering.
