At the beginning of the 20 th century, diesel engine is widely used in agriculture, industry, national defence and traffic because of its advantages like high thermal efficiency, wide power range. Given the emission standard and economic demand developed, the high pressure common rail technique of the diesel engine is investigated and applied more and more as development direction for its high pressure injection and flexible control.The high pressure accumulator pump is one of the most important assembly of common rail system in the high power diesel engine. It provides the high pressure oil steadily, and affects the security and capability in the whole system. Therefore, it’s necessary to analyse and optimize design.Based on related literature, this paper introduces the research and application of common rail system at home and aboard, explains the pumping process and principle, analyses the difficulty and problem for high pressure and flow rate, then points out how to resolve the problem by the calculation model.The simulation model of the high pressure accumulator pump is set up by using AWS HYDSIM software for fuel supply process. According to study the parameters of inlet ball valve, outlet ball valve, cam profile and accumulator, the structure design can be optimized, the efficiency and pressure fluctuation can be improved. Thanks to the simulation, many key parameters and technique problems will be found out. The advantage is to reduce the cost and periods, satisfy the needs of speed, efficiency and quality.
