In the ventilation system, filters are common used to separate particle matters from airflow. But when the particle concentration is high, filter clogging will happen frequently. In order to solve this problem, a uniflow cyclone separator is introduced into ventilation system to reduce the particle concentration in airflow. According to the characteristics of ventilation system, the uniflow cyclone separator should have high particle separa tion efficiency and low pressure lose in low inlet velocity, compact structure and convenient installation. In order to make the cyclone meet the requirements of ventilation system, this paper carried out the following works.The main work and contributions of this research were as follows:(1) The influence of guide vane parameters on device performance were studied. For the orthogonal vane with straight generatrix, the relation between device performance and main vane parameters, such as the directrix equation and vane number, was researched by numerical and experimental methods. The performance characteristics of the guide vane with different number, thickness and angle were analyzed. This work can be used to guide the design of the vane.(2) In order to analyze the relation between the structural parameters and device performance, the flow field of the cyclone was studied by numerical method. The characteristic of the field of streamline, velocity, axial velocity, tangential velocity and pressure in different regions of the cyclone were analyzed, and characteristics of flow field were concluded. Furtherly, the influence of exhaust pipe shape on the flow field was studied, the research can be used to optimize the device structure and reduce the pressure lose.(3) The influence of main structural parameters and inlet velocity on device performance were studied. Based on the research of guide vane, several prototypes of the cyclone with different guide vane were produced. A test bed was built and the influence of the main structural parameters on device performance was researched, such as the shape and size of the exhaust pipe, length of annular region, angle and type of guide vane, diameter of equipment, inlet velocity and so on. The relationship between device performance and main structural parameters were concluded.(4) For the fresh air system in Lanzhou and air-conditioning system in cigarettes factory, the feature of particles in these situations were studied, and application of the cyclone were researched by experimental method. Based on the structure of ventilation system, an application method about the cyclone was proposed.
