Floating breakwater is a kind of coastal protection engineering structure. It can be used to resist waves, to protect all kinds of structures in the harbor and to ensure the safety of the ship’s safe and safe port. Compared with the traditional breakwater, the anti wave performance of the floating breakwater is more effective, the cost is more low, the structure of the mobile is strong, the most important is environmental protection performance. Therefore, it is very important to study the floating breakwater.In this paper, the towing performance of three types of floating breakwater has been studied, the main research contents include:Through literature study and understanding of the domestic and foreign research achievements of towing performance, according to the specific circumstances of the floating breakwater, lashing and towing conditions were determined. The towing performance of three kinds of floating breakwater is studied according to the scheme of towing.According to the specific parameters of a floating breakwater, the modeling software Works Solid is used to model three kinds of floating breakwater. It is provided to help for the subsequent numerical simulation.Using hydrodynamic software ANSYS-AQWA time domain of three structural types of floating breakwater’s towing performance were calculated, and on three types of floating breakwater motion response, binding tension, crash pad stress and drag cable tension and towing performance are compared analysis.According to the comparison of the towing performance of three kinds of floating breakwater, a floating breakwater is chosen for the best performance. Through the software of FINE/Marine on selected floating breakwater towage resistance for numerical simulation, further research is studied on this kind of floating breakwater towing performance, numerical simulation conditions is mainly to change the drag boat speed and sea state level and other ways to set up.In order to better show the towing resistance of the selected floating breakwater in the actual towing, the drag resistance performance of the selected floating breakwater is studied by the model test. The results are compared with the numerical simulation.The results show that the towing performance of a cylindrical floating breakwater is the best of the three types of floating breakwater, which can ensure the economy and safety of the towing process under the same condition. And net cage type floating breakwaters drag navigation performance unstable. In the towing motion response, binding tension, anti-collision pad force and the towline tension and towing performance aspects are the worst of the three structures of the floating breakwater, it is not conducive to the towing of economic and security. For the towing resistance of the cylinder floating breakwater, with the increasing of the speed of the cylinder, the towing resistance is increasing, and the trend is more obvious at high speed, for a cylindrical floating breakwater, the towing operation needs to choose the appropriate speed. In high sea conditions, the towing resistance of cylindrical breakwater is large, it is not conducive to the economic and safety of the towing operation of floating breakwater. So for the towing operations, we need to choose the right sea level.
