With the uninterrupted growth of global economy, the business of shipping become more and more prosperous, the towing operation on the sea become more and more frequently. Nowadays, the towing service gets more proportion of shipping activity. With its rising status, we face and solve more and more difficulties and problems. Many risks lead to reduce safety factor such as the broken of the towing rope, unreasonable layout of the towing rope and towed ship’s yawing. Hence, the thesis is based on the theory of the project management, in view of towing route planning, towing speed calculation and towing route safety; it is comprehensively research for the towing service of large floating structuresThe thesis analyzes scientifically the large floating structure’s towing speed, length of the towing ropes, draft of the floating structures, trim of the floating structures, environment and so on. With examples of towing a 120,000 tons lifting capacity floating dock, utilizing the theory and knowledge of the project management, the thesis states and analyses comprehensively towing route planning, towing preparation, tugboat arrangement, estimation of towing speed, towing safety and security and towing emergency plan of this large floating dock towing. The thesis is helpful and gives guidance to the theory improvement and practical application of the sea towage projects.
