Comparative Study On Urban Design Of Zhujiang New Town Core Area、Pzhou A Zone And The Financial Centre

Guangzhou Zhujiang New Town has gradually developed into a mature CBD since 1992. In 2008, CBD expanded its scope and function to the Panzhou-Yuancun area. In 2011, Guangzhou International Financial Center was put forwarded. And in 2014, in order to build Zhujiang New Town, Panzhou area and the Finacial Center a most active, powerful and charming economy zone in south China, a new planning was carried out to integrate these three areas as the great CBD of Guangzhou.Based on this background, the paper selects Zhujiang New Town Core Zone, Panzhou A Zone and the Finacial Center as study objects. By collecting the materials and systematic analysis as well as comparative study, the paper tries to find out the advantages and shortcomings of these urban design, expecting that these experiences may contribute much to the future development of Guangzhou city as well as other cities in China.Innovation of this paper mainly has two aspects: one, on the basis of predecessors’ research, the paper puts forward the comparison framework of urban design; Second, the framework is used to compare and study the results of urban design of Zhujiang New Town Core Zone, Panzhou A Zone and the Finacial Center,summaring the characteristics and existing problems of the three areas in the master plan and the design guidelines,which may contribute much to the urban design in the future.The paper consists of six chapters, which is divided into three parts:Chapter 1 and 2 are the first part, which mainly explains the background of the topic and related theories to the urban design, such as theories to the study and practice of CBD, and proposed the comparative structure based on the “framework based on the controlled urban design”.The main content of the paper is part 2, including chapter 3, 4 and 5. The paper starts the analysis from the following points: firstly, the paper analyzes the development background and gives a brief review on the planning about Zhujiang New Town, Panzhou Area and the Finacial Center; second point is from the master plan, including the comprehensive analysis on the location, design positioning, the land usage, spatial morphology, public space and the transportation planning, thus draw a conclusion on comparative study of the master paln; lastly, it is the design guidelines. The paper compares the three by the sequence of “the overall urban design—the divided urban design(guidance for different urban designs)—design guidelines of land—the controlling of the executed plan”. Besides, interviews on governance department and the designer are also carried out. Finally, the paper summarizes the reflection of the existing problems.The last part is the reflection and outlook, providing some useful suggestions and enlightenment on future city design based on the conclusion above.
