The safety problems caused by inherent defects of Polyethylene (PE) Pipes increasingly appears with their extensive use and longer using time. And problems of leaking caused by man-made poor welding such as dry joint stand out. Therefore, strengthening the quality control on gas PE pipes welding has become the focus of people’s attention.With PE pipes used underground for gas system as its research objects, this paper researches for the analysis and design of management information system for gas polyethylene pipe welding construction in Internet of Things environment, based on the theories about Internet of Things, big data, welding equipment, welding principle and so on. Firstly, this paper analyzes the construction management of gas PE pipes with the methods of PEST and SWOT, and evaluates and makes a feasibility and necessity analysis on current management system of gas PE pipes welding. Secondly, based on the abstraction of the meaning of management system of gas PE pipes welding in Internet of Things environment, this paper designs the complete contents of the system, the management process, the frames and each functional module. Thirdly, this paper puts forward the development processes of information management system for gas polyethylene pipe welding construction based on Internet of Things, simply describes application situation and gives some introduction and examples based on the practical using.In this research, advanced technology of Internet of Things and big data has been applied to traditional gas polyethylene pipe welding construction. In order to reduce the manual input error, we can use barcode scanning to input information in welding construction, and make unified network transmission format for welding data. Thus we can make real time control and get feedback during welding construction. This method avoids afterwards check, and adds GPS location information of welding construction which help for fixing the pipe. The analysis of huge welding data can give a better service for every unit in gas polyethylene pipe welding construction trade.
