The applications of level measurement technology act an important role in industrial production. With the development of detection technique, level gauge is required to have higher informationization and higher intelligenization.In order to improve the automation of existing level gauge, high-performance embedded image detection system is introduced, which will capture the bubble and then compute its position in the image before gauge’s readings are obtained. At the same time, this design has a motor-driving turnaround platform for the gauge to correct its zero. Using graphical pixels as its basic measuring unit, this new type of instrument not only improves the traditional bubble level gauge’s precision and degree of automation, but also makes the reliability persisted.The main work includes:1. The principle of level measurement technology was summarized. The basic application of the existing level gauge and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. On this basis, a new type of level gauge was given and the overall scheme design and the functional module partition were carried on.2. According to the basic structure of traditional level measurement instruments, this paper presented a new design of mechanical structure, which is divided into two different compartments according to their functions.3. According to the requirement of application, the hardware of embedded computer was designed and system’s components were selected according to their performance, power consumption and economy. The PCB of the hardware was designed and manufactured.4. Based on Linux operation system, the device drivers of new level gauge were developed including motor control and LED lighting and the camera’s driver was analyzed. On this basis, the application software was developed which realized image acquisition, image processing, horizontal angle measurement, the control of motor and lighting, Bluetooth communication and so on.5. Android platform was selected as data receiver and the Bluetooth API was studied. The client APP of the new level gauge was developed and.
