With the advancement of industrialization process, electric actuating mechanism is more and more popular in our daily life including some harsh working conditions which the situation that regular electric actuating mechanism can not work very well.In consider of that, developing the new electric actuating mechanism which can work in bad condition is very necessary.Based on a 3kW 3 phase 12/8 poles switch reluctance motor, a switch reluctance motor variable speed valve electric actuating mechanism with the micro control chip DSP and CPLD is designed. In this paper, detailed analyse the structure of electric actuating mechanism, demonstrate the control circuits of DSP and CPLD, main power converter circuit, position detection circuit, phase current detection circuit, power supply circuit, filed bus communication circuit etc, elaborate the software design of micro control chip DSP and CPLD. The experimental results prove that the electric actuating mechanism has big starting torque, optimal speed control range and good fault tolerant performance, the proposed system is effective and reliable. Based on the above outstanding performance, the project through the Machinery Industry Federation of Scientific and Technological achievements appraisal. The main research contents are as follows:Firstly analyse the structure of switch reluctance motor, demonstrate the principle and mathematical model, then by compared with several other motors,explain the advantage of the switch reluctance motor.Secondly introduce the designed hardware circuits and software programs. The hardware circuits including main circuit, power converter circuit, position detection circuit, communication circuit, protection circuit etc. The software programs including initialization program,capture program, connection program etc.Thirdly introduce the basic situation of the prototype through the two aspects which including mechanical and electrical structure, then elaborate the electric actuating mechanism’s human-computer interaction interface and operating system.Fourthly respectively introduce the experiment of the designed controller underthe laboratory environment and prototype professional test, the results of the experiment and test proved that the designed electric actuating mechanism can completely meet the project requirements.
