In recent years, with the improvement of people’s l iving quality, t he amount of per capita share of car has greatly improved. The gas caused by t raditional automobile has been a serious thr eat to the environment, s o the development of green transportation has become a hot topic in today’s socie ty. As a n idea l traffic tool, the electric vehicle has the advantages of low nois e, no polluti on and high util iza tion ra te of energy. With the advantages of simpl e structure, firmness and durability, l arge starting tor que, the switched reluctance motor is very s uita ble for elec tric vehic le drive system. The switche d reluctance motor has a unique double s alient pole structure, which leads to large torque ripple and l oud noise. In order to s olve t his problem, we s tart with two aspec ts, motor de sign a nd control strategy. At fi rst t his paper introduces the development of the switched reluctance motor and direct torque control method, and then i t analyses the working principle of the switched relucta nce motor a nd its basic struct ure. Secondly, t his paper conducts a pr eli minary design on the motor ontology. Motor parameters are calculated and optimi zed by Mathcad software and Ansoft Maxwell software. The switc hed reluctance motor is mapped by Proe software. Then this pa per int roduces the principle of direct torque c ontrol and buil ds a simul ation model of direct torque control s ystem in Mat lab/Simulink e nvironment. The DTC control method is ver ified to be superiority through the comparative analysis of the simul ation r esults. Final ly, we set up an experime ntal platfor m for the switched reluctance motor. The feasi bility and reliability of the des ign was verified through the expe riment research.
