Vibrating screen, as the most important screen machinery, has been widely used in industrial production. Improving the processing capacity and screening efficiency of vibrating screening has always been the focus and motivation for researchers. However, The conventional measures—enlarging the scale and vibration intensity of vibrating screen, which are limited by manufacturing costs and working life, can not satisfy the growing production demand. And few study on changing the vibrating mode has been conducted at home and abroad.The translation-swing composite vibrating mode has been first put forward and researched in this paper. A new composite vibrating screen has been optimal designed based on virtual prototype technology. The first adjustable vibrating screen experimental prototype, on which a series of experimental researches about screening efficiency has been done. In summary, the main contents of this paper as follows:Based on the development of screening technology, probability screening theory and numerical simulation study of our research group, the idea developing a new composite vibrating screen is first set forward.On the basis of two-DOF vibrating system theory, the principle of composite vibrating is researched. Meanwhile, the dynamics analysis is carried according to the established model of composite vibration.The numerical simulation model of the new composite vibrating screen is built up and the simulation experiments based on virtual prototype technology reveal the new composite vibrating screen’s the law of motion which tests the validity of the design. The reasonable vibrating parameters are determined by simulation optimization. The selection of the excitation device is done according to the parameters.Based on composite excitation principle, the overall and structure of design of the new composite vibrating screen is conducted to meet the adjustable requirement. And the manufacture and debugging of the new composite vibrating screen is finished.Through designing single factor experiments, the relation between the vibrating parameters and screen efficiency is studied and mathematical model is set up. The screen performances of the composite vibrating and the single vibrating are researched in the comparative experiments.These research works demonstrate that the new composite screen effectively improves the screening performance, so it provides new development direction and certain design consideration for the industrial vibrating screen.
