Classroom sound environment has significant effects on teaching and learning. Classroom acoustics is therefore a research hotspot in the field of architecture acoustics. With the technology and means developed, the research depth is increased. Classrooms serve many people. To the young people, their request for the classroom acoustic are different from the adults’ due to in the growing period. Therefore, it needs more research in this field. In China, there are many schools in the undeveloped cities and countries where the education fund and fundamental facilities are worse than the developed cities. It is necessary to research the topic in fact. The paper selects the classrooms in four schools in Fuqing City in China as subjects to investigate and study. The objective measurements include background noise pressure levels, unoccupied reverberation time and STI.Subjective questionnaires are delivered to students in classrooms. Through analyzing the results from the measurement and questionnaires, the paper discusses the relationship between the classroom acoustical parameters and students’ listening feelings. The main work of this thesis can be summarized as follows:1) Summarize the research about elementary and secondary schools on classroom acoustic, having a knowledge on research means and analyzing sights and the trend on this field;2) Select proper acoustical parameters for this research;3) Finish the experiment and questionnaires on the selected classrooms and analyze the statistics;4) Stimulate the classrooms to improve the acoustical environment by using the software Odeon and make some suggestions. And research how to improve the acoustic environment quality more effectively;5) Foresee the future of classroom acoustic.fter the research, the classrooms in small cities in China cannot reach the national standards. There are common acoustical problems for example longer reverberation, higher background noise, and inadequate STI, etc.“Sound from outside students playing”, “Sound from inside students talking” and “chair friction sound” decrease the satisfaction of classroom acoustic significantly. Finally, the paper provides suggestions for reforming classrooms to reach national and international standards through models comparison in software.
