This paper firstly introduced the research of transmission line galloping and the basis of image processing technique for recognition of galloping. Finally this paper introduced to the development of monitoring terminal , especially the terminal control system, including control of the MCU, communication protocol design .The part of transmission line galloping recognition briefly introduced the basis of digital image processing. By using filtering, edge detection and contour extraction, actual image can be processed. Then basing on the processed image, the range and the frequency of transmission line galloping can be calculated.The paper is mainly about the research and development of the transmission line galloping monitoring terminal control system, including hardware sensors selection, conditioning circuit design, software design, communication protocol design. Monitoring terminal collected data near the transmission line such as the environmental temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall , images. The risk of line galloping is determined by MCU. Once meet the line galloping condition ,the monitoring terminal start real-time camera image capture and send back the data.The monitoring terminal run stable in electromagnetic environment, Reliable data is returned through the EMC-related test. The monitoring terminal reached the goal of the design expected.
