A Study On The Relationship Between Urbanization And Industrialization In Henan Province

At present，urbanization is regarded as a powerful engine of boostingdomestic demand and the only way in improving peopl’es living standards andquality, which is meaningful to both our county and people. And urbanization isclosely related to industrialization. They are basically the two sides of one thing.Urbanization and industrialization influence each other and they are the displayof economic development on space and industrial structure respectively. Onlywhen urbanization and industrialization’s development coordinated can oureconomic develop healthily and our society make progress. As the biggesteconomic province of China’s central region，Henan province’s economicdevelopment can reflect the future trend of central region. So, the analysis onthe coordination of urbanization and industrialization of Henan is not onlymeaningful to its future development, but also can provide some references forother districts.The paper focuses on ifve aspects;(l) On the basis of domestic and foreignscholars’ study of the relationship of urbanization and industrialization, chapter2describes the stage characteristics of urbanization and industrialization, aswell as the internal theory and evaluation method of their coordinateddevelopment.(2)It analyzes the urbanization’s process and characteristics ofI Ienan province from the new China, And it also judges Henan province’sindustrialization stage by using the comprehensive index method. The result isthat Henan’s urbanization and industrialization are both in the medium-term.(3)The paper build urbanization and industrialization’s aggregative indicatorsfrom three aspects of developmental level、quality and potential. I calculate theweight of all indexes and the final scorc of urbanization and industrializationwith entropy method. Then I make the empirical study of relationship ofHenan’s urbanization and industrialization using coordinated development model and interaction model. The result is that the urbanization andindustrialization’s comprehensive score are on the increase from1996to2012.And their relationship is from imbalance to high quality. The source ofurbani’zation and industrialization s change are mainly from themselves. Theimpact of industrialization is bigger to urbanization, but the one fromurbanization is smaller to industrialization. The impact form the other isstrongest in the second term, but the one from industrialization to urbanizationis lagged behind compared with the one from urbanization to industrialization.The study also finds a long-term stable relationship between urbanization andindustrialization, which indicates a internal development law between them.And the urbaniz’ation s change not only from industrialization’ s positiveinfluence, but also from error correction factor of long-term’ s adjustment.(4) Itcalculates the urbanization and industrialization’s composite index and theircoordinated development, and also compares and analyzes each index of allregions of Henan province. The result shows a big difference among cities andregions. Generally speaking, the central Henan urban agglomeration scores thehighest, followed by the south&southwest region and the north region ofHenan. And the Huanghuai region is the lowest. But the differentiation amongcentral Henan urban agglomeration is the biggest. On the whole, the districtwith a high degree of industrialization, whose urbanization development degreeis better.(5) On the basis of empirical analysis, combining with the theory, thepaper lists the matters that Henan province should put emphasis on in the futuredevelopment of urbanization and industrialization. During the urbanization’sprocess, we should accelerate the free mobility of all kinds of production factorsand pay more attention to human beings, which not only relates the livingcondition, but also rcinforce people’s education to improve the superiority ofhuman resource. During the industrialization’s development, we should invest inthe field of R&D and support the industry-university-research cooperation to make the inventions industrialized and marketed. Besides, we should not alsomake good use of foreign capital, but also give full play to foreign resources bybringing in advanced technology、talents and management methods. To improveurbanization and industrialization level and their coordinated developmentdegree, all regions should put more into their shortness. Meanwhile, they alsomake full use of the advantages of geographical position and their resources tomake the best development plan for themselves and form the economiccommunity, in which the resources are shared and the advantages arecomplementary. During the development of urbanization and industrialization,we should keep coordinate in terms of their goalsv policies and speed indevelopment to promote our society towards healthy and long-term. Besides, wcshould also establish the dynamic mechanism of "government guide, marketdominant” to push the process of urbanization and industrialization.
