With the degree of economic globalization deepens, the international division of labor further extends the breadth and depth. From the breadth of perspective, increasing number of countries and regions all over the world participate into the international division of labor; speaking from the depth, the international division of labor has become more refined, changing from a single vertical division of labor into a new pattern of coexistence of vertical, horizontal and mixed forms of division of labor, forming global production networks which is characterized by vertical separation and coordination. As the economic development and technological progress, competition in the global value chain has become the main focus of the enterprise competition. Obtaining a favorable position in the global value chain has become an important source of competitive advantage.Judging from the existing theory, the global value chain is dynamic. With the continuous evolution of global value chain, the competitive pattern in global production networks is also changing. In such cases, only understanding the features of a new competitive pattern can companies adjust their strategic to environmental changes in order to gain competitive advantages. Therefore, studying the new pattern of competition in global value chain will undoubtedly have a significant theoretical and practical significance.First of all, it is crucial to study the dynamics evolution of global value chains to define evolution path. Then, further analyses on firm competitive pattern. To achieve the purpose, this paper chooses the theory of global value chains as the theoretical basis, studying the dynamic evolution of global value chain from the aspects of driving force and governance, summarizing the current pattern of competition in global value chain. Based on the above theoretical analysis, this paper reviews IT industry which is typical in the global production and division of labor. And then sum up the new pattern of global competition in the IT industry value chain through the analysis of the global value chain of IT industry.
