In medieval China, the Qu’s Gaochang Kingdom and Liang-Chen Dynasties existed in a similar time, while geographically located northwest and southeast. The monetary economy of these two areas was the typical representative of two types of economies.Qu’s Gaochang Kingdom and Liang-Chen Dynasties were both directly derived from different regions of the Han empire. From5th-6th century, these two regions began to develop independently. Meanwhile, these two kingdom, though distant, through Henan Road maintain a degree of traffic exchanges.This paper discusses the historical background of the Gaochang Kingdom and the Liang-Chen Dynasties to start, the characteristics of these two areas in the territory, nationality, the evolution of the monetary system and the influence to the monetary economy caused by the position of transportation center changed will be elaborated and described, further to make a preliminary study of the commonness and individuality behind the monetary economy.This paper is divided into four sections, the study and significance of this topic is elaborated fundamentally in the introduction.The first chapter:Starting form the background of monetary economy factors, this chapter investigates the two kingdoms in terms of territory and population of the Han Dynasty inherited and change. The direction of movement of population and the reduction of territory will affect the trend of economic development.The second chapter:Currency is a prerequisite for monetary economy prosperous, this paper aims to compare the development of the two monetary systems context, to explore some of the features hidden under the appearance of a monetary economy.The third chapter:Normal use of the transport network is an important driver of monetary economy.5th-6th century period, both the regions have appeared the phenomenon of the transportation center displacement. This chapter focuses on how this change affects the monetary economies of both countries.
