Risk Identification And Control Of R & D Outsourcing For Non - Smart Phones

In mobile phone market, the market share of ANDROID smartphone is rising quickly and meanwhile the share of feature phone is declining. In order to catch up this trend, core business of Z company must change from feature phone to ANDROID smartphone, and for feature phone,Z company decide to use outsourcing method to keep the market share.But outsourcing mode is very different from the original mode. Such as R&D,(Research&Development), manufacture, testing all the process will be finished outside of the company. It means the whole process contains a lot of uncertain factors, and these factors will bring various risks. The purpose of this thesis aims to use risk management method to identify and control risk in outsourcing process and make outsourcing project implemented successfully.Refer to related documents, we have a conclusion:risk management includes four phase:identify, evaluation, control plan and monitor.In risk identify phase, we use methods and tools to identify risks fully. After we identify the risks, we use risk matrix to evaluate each risks, and then sort the risks by risk level.Accoring to the different risk level, we list the action plan, time, person in charge. Especially for A-level risk which means critical risk we introduce the detail plan. At last we execute risk list to trace the identified risk and control risk.As a result, in this thesis we total identify56risks in the outsourcing process. And this thesis points out that the risk of feature phone outsourcing mainly comes from marketing, supplier, test criteria and IPR (Intellectual property rights).And for the outsourcing of mature product, the risk mainly comes from project evaluation phase.Due to the process of electronic product is similar to the object this thesis study, the risk management method which uses in this thesis provides a good reference to the outsourcing of electronic product.
