A Study On The Location Of China 's Technology - Acquired Foreign Direct Investment

In the contemporary society, in China Foreign direct investment started relatively late, and now in the booming rise. The TSFDI(technology sourcing foreign direct investment) location choice in domestic research is not so much, so the research in this field is of great significance.In this paper, we choose three kind of research methods to analyze the location choice of China’s foreign direct investment. First, using the empirical method to analyze the influence factors of China’s FDI, select Britain, the United States, Germany, Japan and other representative developed country as the sample country, the data of China’s FDI from 2004 to 2013. Select variables such as the GDP of the hose country, invention patent grant and the development level service of host country. And then adopt he method of combing normative research and case study, select huawei company as a representative of the high-tech industry in our country, analysis the path of location choice. The third method is the combination of inductive and deductive method, throughout the course of huawei’s internationalization, from specific to general, combing with the characteristics of the industries and enterprises at he present stage in China, for our country, enterprise technical type for foreign direct investment to provide corresponding suggestions.This paper combined with the overseas FDI location choice theory and the research as a theoretical foil, then analyze our country enterprise type of foreign TSFDI location choice of technology acquisition of the status quo and problems, we need to focus on the location choice of technology intensive industries and technology intensive regional. Since then, to analyze the influence factors of location choice, from two aspects of the host country and home country, in order to make the results more perfect, has chosen developed countries for nearly 10 years of data on the empirical analysis. The study found that the service industry development level of the host country, research and development ability and the level of management has a more significant effect on location choice. In order to more comprehensive research model of TSFDI location choice of technology acquisition in our country, for the successful experience of TSFDI in China in detail, through the analysis of the internationalization process of huawei, indicate the direction for our country enterprise at present foreign direct investment.According to the research above, in the aspect of the location choice of TSFDI, the companies in China should corresponding to the developed countries and regions of high and new technology investment, through the reverse technology spillovers to learn the advanced technology and management experience in developed country. The TSFDI of China should considerate the legal environment, cultural and economic of host country, the supporting system and legal protection have different influence on TSFDI.Finally, this paper put forward the proposal from government and enterprise, the multinational companies should formulate strategic planning, give full consideration to the influence factors of TSFDI’s location select, increasing the R&D spending. As far as possible to make the investment localization, on the one hand, to strengthen the fusion between different cultures; on the other hand, strengthen the exchanges and communication between the parent company and branch offices. The government should guide the multinational companies’ TSFDI and provide supports on the finance and tax and foreign exchange, establish perfect domestic legislation to ensure the smooth operation of the overseas investment in China.
