Research On The Development Of Family Farm In China From The Perspective Of Institutional Change Theory

To some extent, agricultural system determines the development of agricultural economy. Since the reform and opening-up, our country has carried out the household contract responsibility system and realized the innovation from the collective management system to the family management system of agricultural production and operation system, which greatly promoted the development of agricultural economy. However, the economic growth owing to the household contract responsibility system is failed into the trend of diminishing marginal return over time. In the advancement of marketization, the agricultural development of our country’s external environment change obviously, contradiction between small farmers and big market and weakening of agricultural management structure are increasingly. In order to solve the problem of "who sow the land and how to cultivate the land", our country must reform of the household contract responsibility system. Family farm, as one of agricultural management forms, has relatively large unique advantages; at the same time, as the inheritance and development of the household contract responsibility system, family farm is a major change in China’s agricultural system in the new period. But problems aroused by the development of family farms become obstacles to its sustainable development. So, how to development family farms become an urgent problem to solve in China.In view of this, this paper uses the theory of the institutional change to research the development problem of family farms. First of all, this paper will study the family farm as an agricultural management system. The writer uses the theory of the institutional as the theoretical basis of this article by comparatively analysis and financing Marx’s institutional theory and institutional change theory of North. Secondly, in the fusion of the two theories, the author defines the concept of family farms and analyses their theoretical. This paper explain the feasibility and necessity of the family farm system from the basic theory; at the same time, provide guidance to our family farm development by study the domestic situation and international family farm development experience. At last, this paper analysis development path of family farm on the basis of the institutional change theory and expound development path of our country from improving the farmland circulation system, designing farm system, cultivating management main body, clearing the position of the government of socialization service system construction and other aspects elaborated.
