A Study On Tourism Development And Economic Pulling Effect In Xi'an

Since reform and opening up, tourism developing rapid over years. Xi’an is one of the earliest tourism cities in China, Which has rich tourism resources and good location and is an extremely typical and important case of tourism city in our country. Tourism has a strong production-related association. Based on time series data for nearly 20 years of Xi’an, this paper analyzed the pulling effect of tourism as 3 levels:relevant departments, the tertiary industry and the whole national economy By Eviews6.0 software. Main content and conclusions are as follows:(1) From the pull effect of tourism on closely related department, the conclusions showing that tourism paly an positive role in promoting the transportation, accommodation and catering industry, wholesale and retail trade, finance and insurance, real estate and other service industry. The coefficient of elasticity of domestic tourism are respectively 1.108079,0.901164,1.203491,1.048302,1.144541; The coefficient of elasticity of inbound tourism are respectively 1.105401,1.131651,1.038780,1.045823, 1.173528; The contribution rate of domestic tourism is higher than inbound tourism, this is because the scale and development speed of domestic tourism in Xi’an is more larger and higher.(2) by using time series this paper analyzes the pulling effect of tourism on the tertiary industry in Xi’an by counteraction analysis and granger causality test. Study shows that there is a long-term and balanced relationship between tourism and the tertiary industry in Xi’an. Below the 5% significance level, domestic tourism is the granger cause of tertiary industry growing; inbound tourism is the granger cause of tertiary industry growing. Domestic tourism and inbound tourism can contribute to the development of tertiary industry. Below the 1% significance level, there is reciprocal granger cause between inbound tourism and domestic tourism. It was found that tourism in Xi’an has the most significant on the employment of tertiary industry. Tourist arrivals and tourism income coefficient of elasticity is 0.160426 and 0.164059 respectively. It is benefit to solving the social employment by developing tourism.(3) Consumption, investment and exports have been often recognized the "troika", which can drive national economic growing. The paper used GMM method to build tourism (Domestic tourism and inbound tourism) on the mathematical model of consumption, investment and export. The R2 of the models are more than 0.9, which has a higher fitting degree. Results showed that the development of tourism plays significant role on the growth of national economic. Development of tourism in Xi’an effect the economic growth in expanding domestic demand and stimulating consumption.
